The DangerIn 2019, Power Washing Solutions LLC alone bid 54 different properties that had extensive siding damage including but not limited to oxidation removal. A few of these were caused by inexperienced home owners without proper equipment, but the vast majority of the damage was caused by inexperienced, unqualified, and underinsured power washing companies. A Costly MistakeThe two properties here are prime examples of how hideous oxidation disturbances can be. While this looks like a child took a can of spray paint to their siding, a "professional" (not so much) power washing company was actually paid hundreds of dollars to cause this damage. Even worse, the power washing companies that were hired did not offer insurance to fix the damage they caused. While Power Washing Solutions LLC did actually repair these damages and the siding looks brand new again without having to replace it. the cost these homeowners had to pay was 90.5% higher than it would have been had they simply hired an experienced power washing company to clean it correctly the first time. Since restorative work is very labor intensive, the cost to repair siding is vastly higher than the simple low pressure soft wash cleaning so it is imperative that homeowners protect their siding. Low Pressure Soft Washing TechniqueThere are many methods of power washing and various cleaning products to use when cleaning residential property. These methods and products are all dependent upon the substrate and the actual growth or various contaminants that are present.
The tools and techniques used to safely clean concrete, retaining walls, patios, roofs, various styles of decks or even automobiles for instance, are very different than the technique required to safely wash siding. Most homeowners do not own the various types of equipment, tools, and solutions needed for all the different substrates they own, which is why they call professionals who have already invested thousands of dollars to affordably wash siding. While brush scrubbing and high pressure may be okay for vehicles, NEVER use these methods on your home and NEVER let anyone do so either! Siding must be cleaned with very low pressure water, disbursed from an appropriate nozzle, and used with safe chemicals to kill mold, mildew, and other growth, while also cleaning it.
